Celestial Hill is a perfect blend between talented winemaking and a unique vineyard site in Oregon’s coastal foothills. The winemaker is Jay Somers, who you may know from his JC Somers label and previous work at J Christopher. Jay brings a deft touch to Celestial Hill, which is located in downtown Carlton in the winery space formerly occupied by Flaneur. Celestial Hill Vineyard itself is located nearby in the Oregon coast range, which is known for wines of bracing acidity and complexity thanks to longer hang times for ripening.
Why Featured: Wonderful wines crafted by heralded winemaker Jay Somers in a cozy Carlton setting. Crisp whites, complex Pinots.

Craft Wine Co. brings three brands under one roof: Omero, Minimus, and Origin. Omero was started in 2008 and pays homage to the rich history of the Willamette Valley representing simple, fresh, approachable wines using traditional methods. Minimus kicked off in 2011 as a series of one-off experiments and continues to be a space for innovative winemaking. Origin launched in 2014 to highlight special wines that stand out from the rest, which means the Origin wine line-up changes each vintage. The Craft team pride themselves in making authentic wines, from one-off experiments and special occasion wines, to everyday wines for the dinner table.
Why We Love Craft Wine Co.: You never know what experiment or one-off wine you might get to taste.

Flâneur Wines is a small Carlton winery crafting wines from two organic estate vineyards near Newberg. The wines are made by Grant Coulter, former head winemaker at the acclaimed Beaux Frères winery. Grant is a dedicated proponent of terroir and the need for minimal intervention in the winemaking process. With minimal intervention, it is critical to source grapes from well-maintained, carefully farmed vineyards. Flâneur thus owns two estate organic vineyards on the western edge of Newberg: Flânerie Vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge AVA and La Belle Promenade Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains AVA. The Flaneur leadership recently restored the Carlton Grain Elevator and turned it into an absolutely gorgeous tasting room and event space.
Why We Love Flâneur: The ambience in the restored grain elevator in downtown Carlton is second to none!

Named after proprietors Ken & Mauro, K&M Wines offers a full range of Oregon wines from their charming downtown Carlton tasting room. Ken & Mauro bought their estate Alchemy Vineyard on Parrett Mountain in 2006. Their 3-acre vineyard grows Pommard and Wädenswil clones of Pinot Noir and a Dijon clone of Chardonnay. In addition to their estate fruit, the duo source grapes from southern Oregon to craft Grenache and Cabernet Franc. Assisting in the vineyard management are their seven miniature sheep, keeping the grass mowed and assisting with grape sucker removal.
Why We Love K&M: You’ll often find Ken pouring the current flight of wines at their charming downtown Carlton tasting room.

Ken Wright is an all-star in the Oregon wine industry, having made wine in Oregon since the 1980s. Ken put Carlton on the map and has been key in transforming the sleepy logging town into a destination Oregon wine town (it now has the most tasting rooms per capita in the US). Ken Wright Cellars specializes in single-vineyard Pinot Noir from throughout the Willamette Valley, with a special emphasis on vineyards in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. The tasting room itself is in the restored Carlton train depot and is a beautiful location to enjoy some of Oregon’s very best Pinot Noir.
